A Mommy?

I do not really feel like a mommy, but then I am not sure what being a mommy is supposed to feel like.
Is it wandering in to watch him breathe every 15 minutes? Worrying about how much he is eating when he goes four hours between meals? Thinking that maybe he sleeps too much? Having sudden, uncontrolable urges to hold and kiss him?
I am trying to get things done while he is good enough to sleep, but the housework will always be there and my darling boy will not be less than ten pounds for long.

Just Breathe

The baby has dropped and I can breathe!
The baby has dropped and I can breathe!
The baby has dropped and I can breathe!
Ok, now I can start my nesting. I keep praying that this baby will listen to how much I want him to be early.

Ringworm

My pride rears its ugly head everytime I talk to the doctor. So since I have to go to the doctor every week, I figured I would get her to take a look at a rash-type something, about the size of a nickel on my belly button. Not that rashes are an OBGYN specialty, but since I have to go anyway...

So the nurse practitioner says probably ringworm. Do you have cats? Yes. Does it itch? Yes. So instead of being happy that I likely have something easy to fix; inside I am screaming: Myyyyy cats would not have ringworm, they are healthy and happy. They would not give me ringworm. Myyyy child will be safe and secure when I bring him home, heeee won't even get a cold much less a fungal infection.

I guess I will use the cream to see if I have ringworm. Oh, and for anyone who worries: ringworm is totally topical no danger to the baby.

Vacation

Ryan and I went to Gatlinburg, TN this past weekend for a college reunion. We had a great time at our cabin, although we did not really make it into Gatlinburg. Some of the things that amazed me is how much we have in common with our friends as each of us has moved away from college.
-We all made a schedule and signed up to cook a meal, no one was interested in spending the weekend going out to eat.
-The guys nearly all went crazy when they realized there was no internet access because it was the first weekend of college football.
-The girls were all for taking advantage of the Labor Day sales at the outlet mall. ;-)
-Everyone also seemed to be interested in healthy eating and living. We kept trying to put aside our recyclables instead of throwing them away.

This was Ryan and my last real trip as a couple before the baby is born. It is just unreal to both of us the changes that are coming. As excited as we are to meet this new, little person, we are doing our best to cherish our time as a couple.

What a deal!

I went with Leigh Anne to the Gwinnett County Kidsignments sale yesterday. They had two warehouses full of baby/kid stuff for sale. I got wonderful, exotic things like crib sheets, towels, washcloths, hats, socks, maternity pants, and a baby sweater.
People had wagons, laundry baskets, hampers, and trash cans that they were filling with clothes and toys for their kids. The checkout line was about an hour and a half, so I was so glad to be there with a friend. I do not mind used, especially when I get such a great deal.

John Newton

I asked the Lord that I might grow in faith and love and every grace,
Might more of His salvation know and seek more earnestly His face.
‘Twas He who taught me thus to pray and He I trust has answered prayer,
But it has been in such a way as almost drove me to despair.

I hoped that in some favored hour at once He’d answer my request
And by His love’s constraining power subdue my sins and give me rest.
Instead of this He made me feel the hidden evils of my heart,
And let the angry powers of Hell assault my soul in every part.
Yea more with His own hand He seemed intent to aggravate my woe;
Crossed all the fair designs I schemed, cast out my feelings, laid me low.

“Lord, why is this,” I trembling cried. “Wilt Thou pursue thy worm to death?”
“Tis in this way,” The Lord replied, “I answer prayer for grace and faith.”
“These inward trials I employ, from self and pride to set thee free,
And break thy schemes of earthly joy, that thou mayest seek thy all in me.”

It's a small world

Ryan and I went out to eat with our friends Amy and Zach and their little boy this weekend. As we were discussing some of the things that I want for the baby I mentioned a really cute nightlight in the shape of a turtle that projects constellations on the ceiling that I really want but is only registered on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/baby/246T0R8GQWAPD). Turns out that Amy's mother gave her that nightlight and it was too bright for her son, so she is going to let me have it!
I am always amazed at the needs that are met when I just humble myself enough to say what I need. And then God does something crazy like meet a silly want in a totally unexpected way. I love serving a sovereign God who reveals himself in the small things so often.

July Datum

So, Ryan asked me yesterday what the diffence between an sonogram and an ultrasound is. I have used them interchangably and was not sure. It turns out that it is mostly correct to use either, but here is a definition by someone on Yahoo Answers:

"An Ultrasound is a group of sound waves that are sent out at a level beyond what our ears can pick up. It is used in cars, planes, boats, medical instruments, etc. The items that they are place in has an device that picks up the signal when it bounces on an object. This signal can produce a picture (depending on the quality of the echo), alert to a near-by object or get you a speeding ticket. It is widely used is almost every aspect of our lives (whether we know it or not).

A Sonogram is an exam in radiology in which ultrasound is used to create an image of what lies below the surface of the skin. The intensity will determine the depth of penetration that the sound wave will have. Of the ways in creating radiological images, Ultrasound is consider one of the safest."

So now you know... Sonogram is the most correct when referring to looking at pictures of our baby boy while he is still inside my belly.

It's a Boy...

...who eats his toes.
As a reminder the possible boy names are:
Titus Andrew
Ian Joseph
Josiah Lucas
He is running a little bit big for his age, it is nice to know all of the sugar and fat I have been forcing myself to eat are helping him get so big and strong!

Blogging

Well...
This is my first attempt at a blog. Mostly because I figure that my random thoughts and writings about life are not of interest to people who do not know me. But I realize that, especially with a baby on the way, it is difficult to keep in touch with everyone who loves me enough to want to know what is going on in my life.
I am hoping that rather than just pictures of The Baby! I will also use this forum to encourage me in my reading. I will be using this blog as much to keep track of notes and quotes worth remembering as a bunch of pictures and notes for people to view.
I also reserve the right to change my mind about what types of things to post and ramble a bit with my fingers when there is a thought I would like to share.
Much love,
Cee

My orders are to fight;
This if I bleed, or fail,
Or strongly win, what matters it?
God only doth prevail.
The servant craveth naught
Except to serve with might.
I was not told to win or lose --
My orders are to fight.
